Joe Collins will present the first, in a series of workshops and events that will celebrate our Southern Appalachian heritage. The year-long project, entitled: Melodies and Musing: Our Appalachian Legacy, is sponsored by Marshall County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), in Guntersville, Alabama, and partially funded by a 2009 Creativity and Aging Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The Project will conclude next fall, with a 3-day workshop and Mountain Festival on September 23, 24, 25 and 26th.  Watch for more information about this event, coming soon.

Joe will present two afternoon workshops, Playing with Grace, Humor and Smiles, and Appalachian Mountain Tunes, on March 10th, beginning at 2 PM, at the RSVP Center in Guntersville. The cost for the two workshops is $30.  A Spaghetti Supper, for $7,  is planned for 5:30 at the Warrenton United Methodist Church, benefitting Relay for Life, followed by Joe Collins, In Concert, at 7:00 PM. The concert is free.

Guntersville is a small city surrounded by beautiful Lake Guntersville, with several campgrounds and four hotels. Spring in the southern tip of the Appalachians is amazing… as is Joe’s ability to make his dulcimer strings sing!  So come and join us for a great day of learning, fellowship and fine music.  Contact Susy Quiggle at 256-571-7734 or susy@mcrsvp.org for more information
