PEACH JAM @ FDR State Park
September 28, 29, 30, October 1, 2006
The NGFDA Peach Jam moves from Jekyll Island to FDR State Park Campground in Pine Mt. Georgia in hopes of dodging hurricane threats and coastal bugs ‘n bugs! Many of us are devoted islanders who bid Jekyll a fond adieu!!!! In keeping with the original intent of the Peach Jam, we want to continue to offer this NGFDA gathering in an accessible area to our Central and South Georgia, North Florida, and Eastern Alabama membership and at the same time provide a great get-away for our concentrated North Georgia members too.
THE AREA
The Pine Mountain/FDR State Park/ Callaway Gardens/Warm Springs area is a great get-away for you and the whole family. Don’t miss President Franklin D Roosevelt’s Little Whitehouse, the FDR spring - stone swimming pool, and lots of hiking trails on the ridge, in the park and in Callaway Gardens; and even a Pine Mountain Wild Animal Park!
THE PEACH JAM LOCATION
The jamming, fireside cooking and pot luck meals will take place in the FDR State Park Campground – Section 5 in the little covered Pavilion structure. Campers and day-trip jammers welcome!
Section 5 campground is a wooded circle of campsites. The jamming, cooking and pot-luck will be in the pavilion area.
A bath house is located in the section.
Section 5 is located just off the back gate of the FDR campground; you can enter front or back – until gates are locked after 10 pm.
LODGING
Make your own reservation through the Georgia State Parks system (1-800-864-7275) or 706-663-4858, or at other lodging in nearby Pine Mountain or Calloway Gardens motels.
Regardless of your camper/tent size, REGISTER AS A CATEGORY 9 CAMPER (Yes, the park told us we could do that)
When you arrive at FDR – regardless of your camper/tent size, ASK FOR CAMPING SECTION 5. We do not have the area blocked – it’s first come, first serve. Others may come in if we don’t fill all camp sites.
